Biography

Tags

In her studio in Dinard, France, Arzel gives a second birth to various twisted and rusty materials. "We throw so many things away", she says. "If we looked at those from a different angle, we could keep or recycle so many of them". Cutting and welding scrap metal and assembling them with other items, she creates frames, sculptures or furniture that surprise by their expressivity and flashy tones.

Autodidact, she works spontaneously themes that are important to her, not without a touch of humour. She clearly belongs to the art singulier or naive art movement. Arzel co-founded an art gallery in Britanny, France, where she exhibits other women artists.
